NistWorks` web sites are down for 4th day.
by D. Tim Clark
July 23, 2010
Yesterday, The Information Age presented each of Carroll County`s commissioners with information regarding David Nist being banned from doing business `in or into Oklahoma,` and during an email exchange with veteran Commissioner Trent North, we asked the following question:
"Are you folks ever going to bring I.T. services in house?"
According to North, "It is my understanding that we are in the process of ending our relationship with Nist and the county is currently seeking an IT specialist position."
I.T. Specialist position advertised The Information Age then contacted the Carroll County Board of Commissioners offices and obtained a faxed copy for the position of "IT Specialist" in the Information Technology Department, reporting to the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners.
According to the advertisement:
`The purpose of this job is to provide technological support to the County. Duties include, but are not limited to: solving hardware / software problems, installing updates and new equipment, assisting in planning, installing, and maintaining any and all technology systems, and performing other responsibilities as assigned by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners.`
NistWorks, a problem for Chappell Since becoming the county`s I.T. vendor, NistWorks has overbilled the county by hundreds of thousands of dollars; they have been illegally paid using SPLOST money; county employees have complained about their service; one NistWorks employee stole and wrecked a county truck; and for the past 4 days, all of NistWorks web sites have been down. This includes the Carroll County government web site.
According to multiple sources in the county government, Chairman Bill Chappell has grown tired of dealing with all of the negativity associated with his decision to hire David Nist and Nistworks.
It appears our sources were correct.
